🙊 What the Quote?
“A man who fears suffering is already suffering from what he fears.“

🙋 What is… penury?
The state of being extremely poor.
The man prefered to live a penury existance than run the rat race of society.
📰 Pieces of News
Canada’s “Zombie Fires” Smoulder Through Winter: Scientists in Canada are reporting an unusually high number of “zombie fires” — fires from last year’s record season that have continued to smoulder underground through the snow-covered winter. These fires are poised to re-emerge and intensify the upcoming wildfire season.
Argentina’s “Beer for Oil” Barter Deal: A province in Argentina, facing a cash crunch, successfully bartered 50,000 litres of craft beer for spare parts and lubricant oil from Paraguay to keep its public transportation system running.
Namibia’s Green Hydrogen Project Breaks Ground: Namibia has officially begun construction on its first large-scale green hydrogen plant, a landmark project for the African continent that aims to produce clean fuel using solar power for both domestic use and export to Europe.
🗺️ Where in the world is… Rere Rockslide?
Gisborne, New Zealand
It’s a natural 60-meter-long rock waterslide, polished smooth by centuries of river water. Locals and adventurous travellers bring bodyboards or inflatable rafts to slide down the rushing stream over the slick rock surface — essentially a natural amusement park ride formed entirely by geology.
The rockslide sits near the Rere Falls (which are more well-known), but the slide itself remains a bit of a secret, hidden on rural farmland along Wharekopae Road. It’s one of those places where locals will tell you, “you have to know it’s there.”
🕵️ What did I find?
The Ultraview effect: A concept that describes the feeling where astronauts look away from Earth into the depths of space, giving an unsettling feeling due to the vastness of the unknown. Contrary to the overview effect, which is where astronauts look down upon the Earth, giving a strong sense of connection and protection over Earth and everything on it
Radio Garden: A neat website (radio.garden) that presents the world as a globe covered in glowing green dots. Click on any dot to instantly listen to a live radio broadcast from that exact city, from Tokyo talk shows to Bolivian music stations.
The Noun Project: A website (thenounproject.com) that is a vast, crowd-sourced library of simple, intuitive icons for everything imaginable. It’s an incredible resource for designers, writers, and anyone needing a clear visual symbol.
